– Gates: $10B vaccine program could save 8.7M lives - CNN.com Sometimes all the zeros blur together and I miss stories like this on the first read through. So Bill Gates gave away some money. Big deal. No. Bill gates plan to invest $10 billion dollars. $10,000,000,000. And it could save nine million...

small worlds →
I don’t know why I keep on stumbling upon these excellent games. A pretty straight forward game, very mind numbing. Incredibly pretty. My favorite world is the snowing one.

masculinity
avrair: When did masculinity get so screwed up? Since when did “being a man” become being arrogant and aggressive and going after what you want, regardless of others opinions? Since when did it mean to be without weakness, being a strong pillar of stability to those around you? Since when has it been about acting cool, and being rough-around-the-edges, and saying crude jokes? When did it turn...

I wish stuff like this could actually happen in real life. Haha, I thought that one custodian in the blue was going to come back out with a gatling gun or something.

The Company of Myself →
avrair: This is for you, Elijah. It’s a short, simple, easy game, but the last two levels are absolutely epic. Soooo fun. Sooo good. Not nearly long enough. It took me so long to figure out the last level. I dearly hope they make a longer sequel.

Another fantastic way to waste time. Sometimes I think the simplest games are the best. Really quite an aesthetic game. My record is 3286 5560.

a man called minu
Once in the country of Akim, in the hills far back from the coast, there was a man named Younde. He was a simple man who had never been far from home, and he spent his time at farming and hunting like the other people of the village. He had often heard talk about the big town of Accra by the ocean, and all the wonderful things to be found there, but he had never seen it. He had never been farther...

edible?
I always thought the concept of an edible chess set was really cool. There ARE those Pepperidge Farm Chessman butter cookies.  You could theoretically play a chess game with those, using the chocolate version for the opposing side. You’d have to buy quite a number of cookie packages before you would get enough pawns though, and that is just not economical. No, I would think that the sets...

reading
marco: “A lot of the people who read a bestselling novel, for example, do not read much other fiction. By contrast, the audience for an obscure novel is largely composed of people who read a lot. That means the least popular books are judged by people who have the highest standards, while the most popular are judged by people who literally do not know any better. An American who read just one...
