    If you simply must have some sweets once in a while, a small amount of agave nectar every once in a while isn’t going to kill you. Just don’t buy into the idea that it’s any better for you than plain old sugar or HFCS.

    Actually, the writer of this article is misinformed.

    It’s true agave nectar has high levels of fructose; but it’s not the same as HFCS. It’s not fructose that is the problem, but the altered chemical state of fructose you get from HFCS.

    The reason HFCS has the negative effect on the human body, is because the body does not know how to properly react to it. To say that natural fructose is equivalent to the fructose in HFCS is completely incorrect. It’s understandable how the writer could easily make these assumptions, considering the recent research on fructose… But check the facts before you aid in the spread of misinformation.
